Weekend Recap (FINALLY) - Part one!

Wow, it’s almost Friday and I am just now getting to last weekend’s update. I’ll explain later why the weekend update has been delayed.
We had a fun weekend even though we had some bumps here and there overall it was a great weekend!

Friday after work we packed up and headed down to the beach house for one last time (Daniel’s parents are selling it, because with his mom’s cancer they can’t afford two mortgages). We didn’t get down there until closer to 7, but when we arrived Daniel’s mom had chili on the stove and cornbread in the oven for us. It was a very good and welcoming meal! After dinner, Cici got her bath and was in bed a little later then normal (9:30). When I came out of her bedroom, I noticed Daniel’s stepdad had a deck of cards out and he suggested we all play a game, like old times when Daniel still lived at home and we were dating. So we decided to play a game of 500 Rummy. It was possibly the longest game of Rummy we have ever played, we didn’t finish until almost 1:00 and we needed to be up and down to Rehoboth Avenue by 10:00 the next day for the Sea Witch parade line up.

Yeah…we all slept in (including Cecilia) until 9:30! I am used to her being my human alarm clock and she is always up by 6:30, even on the weekends. We were rushing to get ready, to get Cecilia ready and down to the parade line up on time. We didn’t get down there until 10:45! The parade started at 11! Luckily, my sister in law had saved us a spot. So while Daniel parked and looked for a place to stand along the parade route I got Cecilia dressed in her costume and in the wagon. She was not a happy. The weather man was wrong and instead of having showers and a cool day, it was 77 degrees out and my little one did not like to be hot!

The Sea Witch Festival Costume Parade held every year in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Awards are given to the Judge’s Favorite. This year the parade was HUGE, for those watching the parade it took an hour or more to watch it from start to finish. We saw all kinds of costumes, adorable little girls dressed up as fairies, mermaids or their favorite Disney Princess, little boys dressed as firefighters, football players or some gory costume and then you had teens whose goal I think was to wear as little clothing as possibly. SK-ANK-Y!

Our group consisted of Cecilia, our niece Karra and two of Karra’s friends. All of the kids dressed up as farm animals and our farm’s name was Little Livestock Farms, how cute is that? Cecilia was a lamb, Karra was a chicken and Kara’s friend, R was a pig and D was a horse.
Our little farm animals did great walking (or riding) down the first half of Rehoboth Avenue (going towards the boardwalk) and going past the judge’s station. The older girls were waving and Cecilia and D looked at the crowd and the different costumes. However when it came time to walk up the other end of the Avenue (away from the boardwalk), everyone started getting cranky. Cecilia no longer wanted to be in the wagon, she wanted mommy to hold her and she was HOT in her costume, so once we saw daddy we left the parade route. We had a busy day ahead of us so we decided to beat the traffic, get something to eat and head home! As you can see, Cecilia was wiped out!

On our way home I got a text message from sister in law, letting us know that our group had won one of the Judge’s Favorites Awards! Yay!!!! Daniel had our camera and was planning on taking pictures, but my DSLR wouldn’t auto focus so he thought it was broken (it still won’t AF, but I can get that certain lens to work on Manual Focus), my other lens works on both AF and MF.). Any ideas? It is still under warranty so it may be going back to Best Buy. We had to wait for my sister in law to send her pictures which is the delay in part one of the weekend recap! Part two is going to come tomorrow!
